From August 16 to 18, CIAU’s annual pre-job training workshop went smoothly. A total of 19 Chinese teachers and volunteers attended the training.

Dr. Wenying Zhou of Michigan State University; assistant director Susan Steere; Jing Wu and Yao Zhang, experienced teachers at CIAU, were invited to give lectures.
Zhongbei Wu, director of CIAU, started the workshop by introducing new teachers to everyone and talked about work during 2018-2019. Professor Jijun Yu followed by CIAU’s missions and gave some suggestions to the new teachers. After that, Susan Steere, assistant director, guided on how to write newsletter.

Drawing from her many years of experience in English-Chinese bilingual teaching, Dr. Zhou gave presentations about Mandarin teaching, classroom management, game design, etc. Dr. Zhou also shared some videos to teachers for case studies. The teachers interacted with Dr. Zhou about their teaching strategies.

Yao Zhang and Jing Wu, who had worked for CIAU, were also invited to share their experience. Ms. Zhang suggested that we should become more inclusive and blend into local life. Ms. Wu talked about the merit of giving by sharing her teaching experience.

Finally, Zhongbei Wu, director of CIAU and Jijun Yu, Chinese director of CIAU, made conclusions for the training and gave special gifts to Dr. Zhou.
The training concluded by the hope for the new semester from the two CIAU directors and gifts to Dr. Zhou.
