2017 Tai Chi and Health Week in Alfred

To introduce the Chinese Duanwei ranking system to martial arts practitioners in the United States, with support from the Confucius Institute at Alfred University, Confucius Institute Headquarters in Beijing and the Chinese Wushu Association, First International Wushu Duanwei Ranking Evaluation will take place during the Chinese Tai Chi and Health Week. The clinics, evaluation and certificates are available for Chinese Wushu lovers. This opportunity is open to people of all ages and with all levels of Chinese martial arts proficiency.
A special delegation from the Chinese Wushu Association will also attend this year’s TAI CHI AND HEALTH WEEK event and provide the overseas clinics and evaluations for Duanwei ranking. Guest performers and judges include representatives from Chinese Martial Arts, Wushu College of Beijing Sport University, Beijing, China. Professor Shaojun Lu, who holds Wushu 8 Duan (Level 8), was the chief coach for the national Wushu team of Singapore, Philippine and Brazil. Professor Yanjun Li, who holds Wushu 7 Duan (Level 7), was National Wushu Champion, Chief Judge for National Wushu Tournaments, Coach for a group of National Wushu Champions.
Highlights of Activities for April 12-14:
April 12 (Wednesday)
9:00 AM -11:30 AM (Nevins Theater, Powell Campus Center):
1. Lecture by Masters from Chinese Wushu Association (9:00am-10:30am)
2. Break and refreshment (10:30am-10:45am)
3. Demonstration by Masters from Chinese Wushu Association (10:45-11:15)
4. Presentation by Mark Duan and Swimming Dragon Performance by Alfred Tai Chi Group (11:15-11:45)
